Week 5 (4/28-5/04)
Day 29 (Back & Cardio) – For my cardio I woke up bright and early to fit in a hike before it was too hot. Hillary and I tackled the Summit Trail at Piestewa Peak in Phoenix. For those non-phoenix residents, this is an intense hike! The trail from the base to the top is 1.2 miles and you gain 1200+ feet of elevation. It’s like stairs the entire way. We did 2.8 miles in an hour and 40 minutes – sweet!
The addition of the supersets were pretty interesting to switch things up. I ended up having to skip an exercise – the pullups – since we don’t have a pullup bar (yet..)
Day 30 (Chest, Abs & Cardio) – Today was our first day of 100+ degree temps in Phoenix. Oy. Summer is here. That made my 30 minute treadmill run kinda dreadful – I literally got only 2.7 miles in the 30 minutes. I’m not sure if that was from the heat or simply because I haven’t ran on a treadmill for years haha
Day 31 (Legs) – I liked that we mixed in a few new leg workouts today! Other than that nothing exciting.
Day 32 (Arms, Abs & Cardio) – For some reason the ab workout today killed me. It was hard but in a good way! They were even a little sore the day after…that pretty much never happens.
And the treadmill in the garage? Ugh. It is already pretty rough to run on that thing in the evening, I might actually have to wake up early to get a quick run in before it gets hot. I only got about 2 miles on the treadmill before admitting defeat, so after dinner Lance and I took Tink on a 2 mile walk around the neighborhood.
Day 33 (Shoulders & Cardio) – 15 mile bike ride then yoga with Ari
Day 34 (Legs) – 3 mile run with Team Challenge
Day 35 (Rest) – Rest.
Week 6 (5/05-6/2)
Started week 6 ok, but ended up falling off the wagon. Tried again the next week but couldn’t get through all of them. Over the course of the month I did each of these exercises like a couple time, so I made the decision to get as far as I could the last week of the month then just to move on to week 7.
Day 36 (Back & Cardio) – 3 treadmill mile run then back exercises
Day 37 (Chest, Abs & Cardio) – Did chest + abs workout then took Tink for a walk, just wasn’t feeling the treadmill today.
Day 38 (Legs) – Almost didn’t do it, but decided I would feel better if I did and that’s exactly what happened.
Day 39 (Arms, Abs & Cardio) – no cardio, but got in my arms + abs
Day 40 (Shoulders & Cardio) –Bike ride + yoga with Ari
Day 41 (Legs) – Rest.
Day 42 (Rest) – Rest
Week 7 (6/03-6/09)
Day 43 (Arms, Abs & Cardio) – 4 mile run with Ari + arms & abs. Those 21’s were intense!
Day 44 (Legs) – I really like this set of leg exercises this time around – a nice combo that still felt challenging enough.
Day 45 (Chest, Abs & Cardio) – 3.6 mile run with Ari, then we the chest and abs workout. Having Ari doing the exercises with me makes it a little more fun!
Day 46 (Shoulders) – Woke up thankful I didn’t have cardio to do and could sleep in a little before my shoulder workout.
Day 47 (Legs) – 17 mile bike ride, then am yoga with Ari. I finally started to get my arm balances down and my yoga instructor showed me the transition into a headstand. Miraculously I actually got my legs up for a few seconds. It’s definitely a new goal!
Day 48 (Back, Delts & Cardio) – 5 mile run with Team Challenge. I planned to come home and do the back exercises, but felt way too drained after being in the sun for 3 hours.
Day 49 (Rest) – Rest!
Week 8 (6/10-6/16)
Day 50 (Arms, Abs & Cardio) – 3 mile run with Ari, then did our arms & abs. She really piled on the arm exercises this time around. It took quite a while to get through all of them + the abs.
Day 51 (Legs) – Legs: I am really digging those singe leg barbell squats, but they are no joke. You can seriously feel it in in the booty.
Day 52 (Chest, Abs & Cardio) – 3.25 mile run with Ari, then did chest + abs. Ari showed me how to do a new plank that is really awesome. I like it better than the usual style plank.
Day 53 (Shoulders) – Rest. My alarm went off and I was sooo tired so I decided to skip my workout and sleep in instead.
Day 54 (Legs) – 17.75 mile bike ride then went to yoga with Ari. I felt a little picked on in yoga today, but I was glad the instructor gave me feedback, especially on my downward dog (it was pretty bad before haha).
Day 55 (Back, Delts & Cardio) – 10.25 mile run with my Team Challenge team. I haven’t ran anything over 4 miles since Ragnar in February so I wasn’t sure how I would do, but honestly it went great! Skipped my back workout since I was pretty tires from the run and didn’t have much time.
Day 56 (Rest) – Rest day! I took an epsom salt bath on Saturday night just in case, but I was totally surprised that I wasn’t sore at all.
