Currently: December 2013

Loving: Getting back in the kitchen! Travel seems to throw cooking way out of whack and I am beyond excited to jump back in and play around with some new dishes.

Reading: So remember last month how I started reading the Delirium series? Yeah well it didn’t stop with the first book – I blew through Pandemonium, Requiem and the other novellas Annabel, Raven, and Alex. I have to say, I was impressed. It the first YA trilogy in a while that kept me interested through the whole third book AND I was happy with the ending.

I also read The Maze Runner. I had been on the library’s hold list for a long time and I finally got it. It was pretty good but it just didn’t knock my socks off. I think eventually I’d like to read the other books in the series.

Next up was For Darkness Shows the Stars. I was so surprised by this book. I kind of picked it up based on the fact that the name sounded cool and it had 4 stars on GoodReads. The book was inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion. I found the beginning to be a little confusing with all the terminology, but was quickly wrapped up in the story and romance. I also read Among the Nameless Stars, which was essentially a prequel to For Darkness Shows the Stars. I liked that it gave a little insight behind what Kai was up to when he left and how he got started with the Cloud Fleet. I think I’ll also read the companion book, Across A Star-Swept Sea :)

Jenn, Sheena and Shanley have been bugging me to read the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare (She also wrote the Mortal Instruments series). I decided that the ridiculously long flight to and from Thailand was the perfect time for me to throw myself into these books. It’s safe to say that if I was at home while reading them, I definitely would not get much done! I have only read the first two (so far), Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Price, but I’m sure I’ll be picking up the third one soon!

Are you on Goodreads? Lets be book buddies!

Watching: Let’s talk about Catching Fire – Holy cow it was so good! Don’t get me wrong, I really like the first movie but this one? Geez it was so good, it blew the other one out of the water. Now I just have to be patient until they release the third one (which I heard will be split into two movies..)

Hunger Games

Also on the flight home from Thailand my Kindle wasn’t working for our first flight so I decided to watch a movie. Not just any movie, Austenland. This movie was a gem. Cute and funny with a little romance. The ultimate chick flick if you ask me.

Anticipating: Decorating for Christmas! We usually put up all our decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we were gone this year. I can’t wait to put our lights and decorate the tree.

Listening to:  Right before I left for our trip I downloaded the Passenger album, All the Little Lights. I really really like it…his voice. I don’t think I can possibly get sick of it.

Planning: I’m teaming up with Hillary to plan our friend Crystals baby shower – I like the theme so this should be fun :)

Working on: My 12 Cocktails of Christmas series! I’ve got some fun cocktails up my sleeve right up until Christmas!

Wishing: For all my Christmas shopping to magically be done. I seriously don’t even want to think about it yet..

Sipping on:  Lately it’s been lots of Thai Iced teas and Chang beer. I had no shortage of either when we were there.
