Loving: Lazy Sundays…The last few weeks I have made it a point not to schedule stuff on Sundays and keep them as easy and stress free as possible. Lance and I catch up on our DVR, take naps, read and usually end up having pizza from a place close to our house (which we have creatively dubbed “Sunday Pizza”).
Reading: So earlier this month I was thinking about how I haven’t read very much during the month. But now I’m looking over my list from Goodreads and I realized I was a little off on that statement…
I’ve been trying to borrow more books from the library lately, but have a bunch on hold. So I decided to read a random book that popped up as a recommendation on the library ebook site – Dare You To. I ended up really liking this book, it reminded me a little of Anna and the French Kiss but with more intense themes and characters a little rougher around the edges. I also realized this was the second one of a series (oops!) so I’ll probably check out the others too.
I also found Born of Illusion through the library website and this book was awesome. Normally I‘m not that into books about magic, but this one was set in the prohibition era in a world full of mediums, mentalists and magicians – and the great Harry Houdini. Needless to say I was captivated by the setting and the story. Plus the cover is sweet looking too!
I finished up Born of Illusion right after the release of Allegiant (the final book in the Divergent Trilogy). I eagerly started reading it but found myself having a hard time getting into it since I couldn’t remember where Insurgent had left off. I slowly made progress in the book and started to get more into at about the 30% mark. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I will note that this definitely wasn’t my favorite book in the series – and while I once would have listed Divergent as my favorite book series, I would probably recommend the series with reservations. If you read it and are interesting in chatting about Allegiant please send me an email!
After Allegiant I desperately needed to dive into a new book to make me forget about it so I picked one from my Goodreads list that’s been on there forever: Delirium. I brought it up to a few of my girlfriends while I was reading it and almost all of them told me they too had it on their “to read” list forever. I really really liked this book – the fact that I read it in 3 days during a weekend where I hosted a part is evidence enough. It was intense and passionate and had pretty much everything I love in book.
I love when authors write short stories to accompany series so I couldn’t resist reading Hana next. Oh my word am I glad I read this one after. I think my mouth was hanging open after reading the last paragraph of it – I totally didn’t see that coming. You better believe I’ll be reading Pandemonium, Requiem and all the other short stories.
So yeah I guess I did do a lot of reading this month.. Are you on Goodreads? Let’s be book buddies!
Watching: The Walking Dead is back! So far they have already had me on my toes. I’ve also started watching The Talking Dead – why didn’t I pick up on this sooner??
Anticipating: Our trip to Thailand over Thanksgiving to meet up with Emily! I am beyond excited for this trip and can’t wait to be cruising around in a tuk tuk drinking a thai iced tea!
Listening to: So I know it’s a few days past Halloween but I have to share my love for the Nightmare Before Christmas Revisited album. It’s all my favorite songs from the movie covered by rock bands. It’s amazing. I also was loving the Halloween Party Radio station on Pandora. I listened to it all day at work on Halloween and I think I heard the Monster Mash like 10 times.
And I also started listening to Coffitivity at home when I’m working on stuff. It’s perfect for those times when you want background noise, but don’t necessarily want music. Check it out!
Planning: Some activities and details for our Thailand trip – more specifically working out a plan to trek around on an Elephant and how to eat as much Thai food as possible.
Working on: Changing one of our spare bedrooms into an office. For the longest time I didn’t have a desk to work at – I usually sat on the couch with my laptop, and sitting on the couch is never as productive as I hope it will be. So we got a desk and I been working on organizing all my stuff. It’s a big project but I can already see so much progress!
Wishing: Lately I’ve been wishing for an unlimited travel budget and travel time. Emailing back and forth with a friend about travel wishes has just added to my wanderlust.
Sipping on: This lemonade. A couple weeks ago Lance did a quick run to the store for me while I was cooking and brought back a couple of these on a whim. Ever since then I’ve been addicted – specifically to the mango lemonade and the lemonade peach tea.
