Loving: FALL EVERYTHING!! The past week our weather has been amazing. I actually want to go outside in the middle of the day – AND on Friday the high was 83. This is something to celebrate. Then today I hung my favorite Halloween wreath up on my door. I baked with my first can of pumpkin, ate my first honeycrisp apple and had my first pumpkin beer of the season. It’s here.
Reading: September wasn’t as crazy for books as the last few months since a good bit of the month was spent traveling and preparing/recovering from travel. But I did end up finishing The Mortal Instruments – City of Bones. I put it down about halfway and just wasn’t interested, but I decided I had to stick it out and finish it. Once I got a little further in I was hooked. I haven’t decided if I’m going to read the second one just yet…or just skip over to the Infernal Devices series first..
On my flight to Chicago from Minneapolis I read The Transfer by Veronica Roth (One of her Divergent short stories). I really liked it and loved getting to know a little more about Four.
A while back Jenn sent me an email alerting me to the fact that Marissa Meyer (I read her books Cinder & Scarlet back in July/August) was going to be here in AZ for a book signing along with a couple other authors. To prepare for this I quickly downloaded as many of the other authors books as possible and poured through them haha.
I am so glad that Leila Sales was on that panel because her new novel This Song Will Save Your Life was amazing. I was a little unsure if I’d like the book when I started it, but ended up loving everything about it. I’m a music person and liked how she incorporated so many songs and artists into the book. I also did some super google searching and found this kick awesome Spotify playlist with all the DJ songs they mentioned and more (even A Letter to Elise). Score!
I also read The Compound by S.A. Bodeen. This was like doomsday preppers meets the hunger games. It was creepy, yet thrilling and had me flipping page after page to find out what would happen next. I’m working on the sequel right now, The Fallout – so far it’s just as good, I’m curious to see what will happen.
A few of us from book club got together to go to the book signing. We nerded out a little and took a photo with all the authors. It was lots of fun!
Watching: So I can’t not talk about the end of Dexter. You guys, I cried. I CRIED. About Dexter, about Deb, about Hannah, about everything. I was so sad. Then the end happened….WHAT?!? I don’t even have words to explain. Ugh. My fellow Dexter fans might find this article interesting, it talks about a former writer for the show would have chosen to end it. I think that would have made me feel better, but who knows!
The Fall TV line up has begun! Hooray for New Girl, The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds, NCIS – and more that I can’t think of right at this moment. My DVR currently hates me. I’m already behind on like half of the shows haha.
Anticipating: All kinds of fun fall activities! I’m excited to start hiking again – and the Arizona State Fair will be here soon too.
Listening to: Both Lance and I have been loving the new Thousand Foot Krutch album. They have like 4 singles out from it and honestly the whole album is really good. I think my favorite is Fly on The Wall or The End is Where We Begin. I also really like this new Paramore song too
I also discovered this site where they created playlists to pair with some of my favorite books. The Selection, Divergent (TWO – one for Abnegation and one for Dauntless), The Chemical Garden..and more. Where has this been all my life? Also what is 8tracks.com and why is this the first I’ve heard of it?!?
Planning: A holiday trip for Lance and I. Lots of unknown details as of right now but I’m excited to share more as it gets a little closer…
Working on: Getting settled back into a routine. I felt like this whole summer was whack with my schedule so I am anxious for things to get a tiny bit calmer and to get back into the swing of things.
Wishing: For a free weekend for Lance and I just to relax and hang out. We’ve had so much going on lately with travel, conferences, events, weddings and whatnot. I kinda just want a weekend to sleep in and do nothing but veg at home.
Sipping on: Besides my new favorite fall cocktail that I made for Drink & Dish last week, it’s been a whole lot of orange juice. After my fabulous week of traveling, I crashed and burned with a nasty cold. I’ve been trying to recover as quickly as possible, which usually means loads of OJ.
