Loving: Yoga. Back in April I bought a Groupon for a yoga studio near my house. There I attended my first class ever…decided it wasn’t so scary and have been going a few times per month since then. My practice has been getting better and better – and I’m finally starting to understand what all the hype is about.
Reading: I couldn’t help but jump right into Lola and the Boy Next Door after I finished up with Anna and the French Kiss. It was also a fun light read – and I loved that Anna and St. Clair were both in it. In 2014 the third companion novel comes out Isla and the Happily Ever After comes out, so I can’t wait to read that!
For book club this month we read Cuckoo’s Calling. This novel was written by J.K. Rowling, but she originally wrote it under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith, but it got leaked that she was the actual author behind the book (read more about it and a review on Jenns blog). Cuckoo’s Calling is not the typical kind of book I usually read, but I found it to be quite good. I like crime shows (like Criminal minds, CSI and NCIS) so it wasn’t too much of a stretch for me to get into this book. Through the whole time I was guessing who did it – and trust me, I suspected everyone!
After I finished Cuckoo’s Calling I picked up City of Bones in the Mortal Instruments series with the goal of reading as much as possible before I went to see the movie. I didn’t get far but I ended up liking the movie quite a bit! I’m guessing watching the movie spoiled the book for me a little because I am having a hard time wanting to pick up where I left off..
I randomly decided to start Terra a few days ago – it’s written by fellow food blogger, Gretchen Powell of Honey I Shrunk the Gretchen. I really enjoyed the book and it was a nice fast/easy read. I happen to like dystopian novels and books with love stories so this one had me hook, line and sinker.
Watching: TV-wise it just been Dexter for us, but I’ve had a few other recent obsessions…
Like Old Gregg – Emily showed this to me a couple weeks ago and I have been hooked ever since. It’s so incredibly quotable and I find it incredibly hilarious!
“Easy there fuzzy little man peach. Have you ever drunk Bailey’s from a shoe?” Seriously, every time I watch it I find a new quote I didn’t notice before.
Anticipating: Okay so it might be a little early to be anticipating this but I can’t help it – I just am! I’m excited for all things Divergent!
First, the official trailer was released at the VMA’s.
Then I saw this little clip and I freaked out a little more. Can it be March now?!
As if that isn’t enough…
- The Transfer came out today! – it’s a short story told from Fours perspective.
- Allegiant – the final book in the Divergent series – comes out at the end of October.
Ok. I’m done nerding out now..
Listening to: Things have been a little quiet on the music front, but I did semi-recently discover this song and I am smitten. Nice work Maclemore, nice work.
Planning: September is full of travel for me. After HLS in Minneapolis I am headed to Chicago to see my dear friend Camille. I will be meeting Lance and my friend Sheena there, so Sheena and I have been busy brainstorming things to do and places to eat.
Tell me – what are your favorite Chicago restaurants? Most importantly – where can I get a fabulous slice of deep dish Chicago style pizza??!?
Working on: Self Care for September! My friend Kristi put this together and I’m really excited to participate! It’s a month long campaign to inspire women to set aside time to take care of themselves. I’ll admit, I’m notorious for being busy all day long on work, project and life, that I forget to set aside a few minutes a day for me. So that’s where the Self Care for September challenge comes in.
Self Care for September is a weekly newsletter that has daily “challenges” that can be completed in about 15 minutes. These challenges will encourage you to set aside some “me time”. So far they have been really great – You can follow along with some of my challenges on Instagram!
Interested in signing up? It’s not too late – you can sign up here!
Wishing: For more lazy time with Lance at home. We had a day to relax this weekend and I wish we could have days like that more often!
Sipping on: Iced tea + lemonade. Something about this combination has been so delicious lately.
