Loving: Weekends at the lake! We’ve been taking advantage of the crazy hot weather and spending it out on the water.
Reading: July was a big reading month for me – Lance got me a Kindle for our anniversary so I realized just how convenient it is to have books at your finger tips at all times!
First, I read Cinder and Scarlett back to back at the beginning of the month. They left me desperately wanting the third one to come out ASAP. Then Jenn sent me this article about Cress, which only made things worse..
Next up was out Book Club pick of the month, The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen. Kudos to Crystal on suggesting this book! It was a fun, easy read and I fell totally in love with it. The author went into lots of detail about the food in the book so I was in my element – plus we all had fun bringing some of the Southern style dishes they talked about in the book to our meeting.
Since I liked that book so much I decided to pick up Sarah Addison Allen’s other novel; The Peach Keeper. I loved this one just as much, if not more than The Girl Who Chased The Moon.
To round out the month I decided to pick a book from my GoodReads “To Read” list, which ended up being Anna and The French Kiss. This book was adorable and I couldn’t put it down. Anna reminded me of a 16 year old version of myself, plus I had fun imagining all the places they visited in Paris since we were just there a few months ago.
Watching: Every time I see any of my friends that watch Dexter I immediately have to ask them their thoughts so far – and how they think it will end. The general consensus is that either Dexter or Deb will die, but I don’t know..or actually maybe I just refuse to believe it. I like to think that he will magically no longer have the urge to kill haha
I probably should admit this, but Lance and I have also been watching Naked and Afraid on the Discovery channel. For some reason we are both totally obsessed with it, these people literally have nothing and are forced to survive in crazy places. You guys, they lose like 20-40 pounds while they are out there, it’s insane. But I am incredibly impressed with all the females they’ve had on the show so far – they’ve all been awesome and quite a few have been better than the men!
I’m still sorta watching The Next Food Network Star, but since my favorite contestant (and fellow food blogger) Nikki got sent home last week I am not sure if I trust their judgment. However, I do find Damaris hilarious and quite entertaining so I am rooting for her now
Anticipating: The birth of my dear friend Lorraine’s first baby! We had her shower this past weekend and now we’re just a few weeks away from getting to meet their little one.
Listening to: A little early 2000’s punk music! There was some random movie on TV the other day that I had on while I was doing some house work and it reminded me of all my old favorite punk music. Wheatus, Weezer, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Blink 182, Yellowcard, Dashboard, AFI, Switchfoot and a bunch more! I found this playlist on YouTube that had a couple good ones on it. It somehow spiraled into a 5 minute conversation between Lance and I about how New Found Glory didn’t ever get the fame they deserved haha.
Planning: Our presentation for Healthy Living Summit! Ari and I have been busy working out the details of what we’ll be covering for our session. We also just finalized our roommate situation – it’ll be me, Ari, Kristi of Life Sprinkles and Katie of Peace Love and Oats!
Working on: I’ve recently taken up knitting, so I’m working on completing my first project.. so far so good. After I finish these ear warmers I’m going to tackle a cowl scarf…wish me luck! Sheena, Jenn and I got together last weekend to knit for the afternoon, which was lots of fun.
Wishing: It was Thursday morning and my bags would magically pack themselves! I’m headed to Huntington Beach for an all girls bachelorette party this weekend.
Sipping on: This is a little lame, but I’ve been drinking a ton of water lately. I think it’s a combination of the heat and the fact that I’ve been running again lately – which is suicidal without lots of water this time of the year.
