Currently: December 2012

December was a crazy hectic month – between travel (recaps to come!), holiday stuff, family gatherings and being sick like 25 out of 31 days of the month (maybe a slight exaggeration, but I seriously kept getting sick!) I am welcoming January with open arms! So here’s what is currently going on in this world of mine:

Loving: The new year. I love thinking back on 2012 and brainstorming goals, ideas, bucket list items for 2013.

Reading: I did some heavy reading while we were traveling to and from Utah for the holidays. I read Wither and will probably pick up the sequel to start on that – and I read Unwind (which is the first book in my new yet to be named book club). Unwind was really good – a little freaky subject matter but a page turner! I heard the second book UnWholly is even better but I am forcing myself to wait to read it until after our book club meeting.

Watching: Movies! There are so many good ones that came out over the holidays! If you haven’t seen it, Les Miserables was amazing! Everything TV wise has been on hiatus but I am really excited for Girls to start back up, season 2 looks really good. If you don’t already…watch it. You have time to catch up on last seasons shenanigans before season 2 starts. Oh and Shameless is coming back with all it’s dysfunctional glory.

Anticipating: My first MARATHON. In less than 2 weeks I will be running 26.2 miles for the very first time! I am oddly terrified and excited at the same time.

Listening to: Music has been all over the map lately but this song has definitely been a little over played..

Planning: A highly anticipated trip to Europe!! Lance and I decided not to exchange gifts this year (for Christmas/Birthdays) and to go on this trip instead. I’ve been trying to convince him to do a Europe trip like this for 10 years so I literally cannot contain my excitement! We are going to London, Paris, Venice and Rome – so if you’ve been to any of those and have suggestions please share (especially food/activity related ones!).

Working on: Getting in the groove with my new job at work. Right after Christmas I started a new position – same place, but new duties, office location and hours (a TON more hours to be exact). I’m hoping I get this balance worked out soon..I already feel little frazzled.

Wishing: For more SLEEP! I think I averaged about 4 hours of sleep per night all last week. Thankfully the freelance consulting project I was working on is all done (yay!) so this week looks like it will be back to normal.

What are you currently loving/reading/watching/anticipating/listening to/planning/working on/wishing?

  1. All my friends get sick over the Christmas period and I never do, I owe it all to clementines, I eat at least 2 a day from november to january, any citrus fruit really (satsumas, oranges etc) and Ive not had a cold for years, im usually groggy the first few days back at work, mainly because im coming down off a food binge, lol, but other than that, id really recommend vitamin c, and lots of it.

As for your trip, Ive been to 2 outta 4, so lets get some suggestions for you…
London – as a fellow brit, and from Manchester (where people are friendly) im not a huge fan of our capital, its a little rush rush rush and rude, BUT the food is amazing. Some good ones to try are jamie olivers bbq restaurant barbecoa, any of gordon ramseys restaurants and any pub food. ;-)

Paris – eek, another very rude city (my you have picked them, lol) not a great fan of paris…. i suggest getting on a train and visiting disneyland paris.. haha. The food is once again great, we loved the little patisseries and side shops. Its extremely expensive, so make sure you have lots of spending money.

Venice and Rome – I really want to go to rome, soooo badly. The Italians have amazing food, my favourite and Id love to visit.

If you get chance, Visit Barcelona… my god that city is beyond beautiful, amazing architecture and culture, its a city to walk around with your jaw on the floor and camera in hand. Palma is very similar.

    Have a lovely trip!

  2. Haha – I am laughing because our similarities shouldn’t surprise me anymore, but they never fail to make me smile. :) I literally just posted about Bobby and my goal to get to Europe in 2013, and we want to go to the exact same places! Let’s plan to chat more about what tips we receive on places to eat/activities to do. SO exciting…it’s going to be a great year!

Other things I’m excited about: book club (!!) and your first marathon. You are going to rock it!

  3. That is so exciting about your first marathon! I have made it a goal this year to do my first half marathon. I know I have been saying I want to do one forever but now I want to actually do one whether it is walking or running ha!

I have never been to anywhere in Europe so I can’t wait to see what all you see, do & eat! I will hopefully one day get to go!

  8. I’m sorry you were sick so much in December! Glad you are on the mend! I’m so excited for your trip! I can’t wait to hear all about it! I am dying to go to Europe, especially Paris. I have been to London when I was in college and did all the fun touristy stuff. I really loved the London Eye and seeing the changing of the guard at the palace. Hope your marathon goes great!!
