So…I’ve already been busy thinking about my next 13.1
As most of you remember, I am registered (and I’m one of their Ambassador’s of Good Health!) for the Women’s Half Marathon here in AZ in November. And its getting close to that time for me to start thinking about my upcoming training plan for the race.
Just last month I met my ultimate running goal of doing a half marathon in under 2 hours – now that I have that checked off my list, I am ready for my next challenge! So I will be jumping into training for this race aiming at a PR. I haven’t quite decided what that “magic” goal number will be just yet, but I know I want it to be below 1:58.
I am normally pretty easy going when it comes to my training plans, and I typically write my own, but this time I have decided to pick a plan and stick to it.
Lucky for me, when you register for the WHM races they give you a coupon code for a FREE training plan through Active.com – If you have registered for any of the WHM races you’ve got to take advantage of this, it’s huge!
I decided to tackle the “Advanced” plan. Yikes that sounds intimidating! But you know what, I think its going to be lots of fun. I will be running more miles than in previous plans (up to 15 miles for a long run), combined with more speed work and cross training (yay for biking and swimming!)
I am really excited to jump into this plan in a few weeks – all I need is the weather to cooperate and give me a little break on the heat!
Does anyone else have any races they are training for this Fall?

Good luck on your new training plan! I am sure you will do great! I started a 1/2 marathon training plan yesterday for non-runners. The plan is not for time I don’t think just to finish. Which that is all I want to do is finish without feeling like I might die!

Thanks Brittany! I excited that you started a training plan – I think you are approaching it perfectly! do you have a race picked out? Oh! And do you have DailyMile??!?? If not you should…let’s be friends!
I just made a Daily Mile account. Maybe this will help me get with it! I am such a slacker it is ridiculous. I really want to do the NOLA Rock ‘n Roll 1/2. Trey was telling me about one in Mobile that is before the NOLA one but I can’t remember the name of it.

I think you should go big. 1:55. I think you can do it. You know me, exercise and goal pusher. I will live vicariously through your speed!

Haha I love that you called it “gaol pushing”! I’ll think about the 1:55…
the advanced plan, dang rockstar!! I’m sooo excited for you:) and then moving right into the full training plus you still get to do the fun cross-training things! can’t wait to follow along.

I’m excited to follow your training! I don’t have to start training for my next race until late October/ early November, but I am already on the look out for a training plan. Nothing like planning ahead, huh?
