We are back from our Sonoma/Napa trip… which means back to this crazy desert heat! I am working on getting some trip recaps (and a race recap!) written up, but in the mean time here are a few of my favorite instagram shots from the weekend:
Wine tasting in Santa Rosa
French macarons from a bakery in Healdsburg {Passion Fruit & Strawberry Basic Balsamic}
Tour and wine tasting at Kendall-Jackson
Team Challenge Pasta Party
Fields of lavender – it smelled heavenly!
The most delicious sourdough bread I’ve ever had – filled with clam chowder
Since I had my fill of wine this weekend, I wanted to share this lovely sparkling white peach sangria that you can easily make at home.
Its really summery and refreshing (it has Saturday afternoon pool-time written all over it!). The recipe makes a big pitcher (about 10-12 glasses) so its great for sharing (or not!
). Plus it can be prepped ahead so it’s ready when your guests arrive.
Peaches have always been one of my favorite fruits (I think they are second fav to blueberries!). This drink has a nice peachy flavor, so naturally I loved it!
Keeping with the peachy theme I like to use a sparking peach flavored wine, like this one or something similar. It has a nice subtle peach flavor and works well with the Riesling while adding some bubbles to the sangria. If you can’t find it, you can use any champagne or sparking wine instead.
And depending on the sweetness of your peaches you may want to add a tablespoon or two of sugar, it’s up to you. Sometimes I have found that adding in a spoonful of sugar to the fruit for sangria helps to draw out the flavors of the fruit.
Ingredients:
- 1 (750 ml) bottle Riesling, or other white wine of your choice
- 4 peaches, cut into wedges (about 2 cups)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
- 1/2 cup peach vodka
- 1 (750 ml) bottle chilled peach flavored sparkling wine
Directions:
In a large pitcher combine white wine, peaches, sugar (if desired) and peach vodka. Chill for 3 hours or until cold.
When ready to serve, pour in peach flavored sparkling wine and stir gently.
