Today marks the 10 year anniversary since Lance and I have been “Together” :) Half of that 10 years was spent just dating, 1 year engaged and the final 4 we’ve been married.
When I say 10 years out loud it sounds like a long time, but when I think back on the years it really doesn’t feel like it. I think its safe to say that’s because we’ve had such a great time.
I shuffled through some old photo’s today and found some from when Lance and I first started to date. The one above is circa August 2002 – we look so young! I thought I’d share a little background into our story:
A few days before he “asked me out” we had this huge day-date planned with a group of our friends – the night before the date we had just confessed that we had feelings for each other, but we both were going to the date with other people (he was going with my friend and I had set them up – oh the drama!). We decided it would be best to keep it a secret and pretend like we were still just friends…
At one point when we were covered in who knows what from our messy game of twister, we snuck a little kiss at the drinking fountain when no one was looking – we were so scandalous This game of Twister was actually really fun – we all brought pie tins filled with random kitchen ingredients and played until it broke out into a giant food fight…I believe I brought a pan filled with purple ketchup.
This photo was taken after we got back from the park at a friends house – I am seriously wondering how no one knew something was up cuz we are cuddling like a couple of fools on the corner of the couch haha. Fast forward 2 days – we had spent all night building a bookshelf and a desk for Sheena’s new room and Lance finally asked me out. After that it the rest was history.
That first year was lots of fun – We even went to my senior year homecoming dance together. What was with the hilarious back drops? I wonder if they still do cheesy dance pictures like this nowadays?
This picture cracks me up – but it’s cool that I am still friends with most of the people in it!
So that’s a little insight into our beginning This has been a really amazing 10 years – and I am excited to see where the next 10 (and the 10’s after that) will take us!
Thanks for listening to my happy little ramble!
