Soft and chewy oatmeal cookies with sweet and tart dried cranberries and cinnamon chips sweeten the whole deal!
A few months ago I signed up to participate in The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap
The basic idea behind the cookie swap was that you would receive the address of food bloggers and would send them each a dozen cookies, and in return you would receive 3 dozen cookies from different bloggers. There is nothing I enjoy more than baking and getting things in the mail so this was right up my alley.
There ended up being over 600 bloggers that signed up to swap cookies – which resulted in over 22,000 cookies sent around the world as a part of this swap! That’s a whole lotta cookies :)
Sounds pretty awesome right? Want to get in on it next year? Sign up here to join the email list about next years swap :)
The second part of the swap was to post your cookie recipe on your blog so it could be shared with the rest of the bloggers. The cookies I chose to bake and send were Oatmeal Cranberry Cinnamon Chip (recipe below)
After baking and packaging up a few dozen of these bad boys there were sent off to Tara, Vanessa and Kate to enjoy! I am crossing my fingers that they made it there safely and not broken! I also used the self service machine at the post office for the first time so that was an interesting endeavor…
I found some cute little holiday note cards to send along with the cookies and I also included a couple of business card that Lance whipped up for me while I was doing my baking. I think they came out really good :) Oh and I threw in a small bag of my homemade salted caramels as a little something extra.
And I received my final batch of cookies a few days ago :) Here’s what I got:
All three dozen are absolutely delicious ladies – thank you all so much for your generosity and fabulous baking skills :)
Last year I stumbled upon a bag of Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips and decided that they needed to be incorporated into my holiday baking. So that is how the idea behind these cookies was born. The oatmeal keeps them nice and soft, the cranberries adds a nice sweet zing and the cinnamon chips sweeten the whole deal. Lance is a big fan of oatmeal raisin cookies so he greatly enjoys the new holiday twist on on of his favs. Since we love them so much I thought they would be perfect to include in this years swap!
